Tamarind is a fruit with a sweet and sour taste that comes from a slow-growing tropical tree that can reach up to 50 metres in height in some cases and grows in the rainforests of Latin America and Asia. Its name comes from the Arabic language tamr hindī, which means, literally, Indian date. The texture of its pulp and its sweet taste are subtly reminiscent of the date, although with different nuances and its distinctive acid touch. It has a rigid dark brown pod, where threads surround its pulp. The Tamarind has pits inside similar to those of olive or cherry. According to the classification of fruit types, these foods are classified within the group of acid fruits. However, their acidity varies according to the degree of ripeness.
